Explore Hadrian's Wall

High Keenley Fell is near the most spectacular sections of Hadrians Wall and the most important Roman sites, including Vindolanda, Housesteads, Birdoswald and Chesters - all accessable by the award winning Hadrian's Wall Bus Service.

Walkers

High Keenley Fell is an excellent base from which to explore the North Pennines or Roman Wall Country. We can easily provide you with a pack lunch and when you return to base you can leave your outdoor clothes in the utility room. If you would like to walk a section of Hadrian's Wall we can easily drop you off and pick you up again later in the day

Cyclists

This is a wonderful area to cycle in. There are plenty of quiet picturesque country roads and you can choose whether you want something challenging or a reasonably gentle ride. We also have plenty of room to store your bikes. (See also Hadrian's Cycleway)

Equestrian

We can arrange horse trekking or riding lessons. If you have a horse of your own why don't you bring it with you and enjoy riding in un-spoilt countryside? Your horse can either be kept out at grass or in one of our very large loose boxes. (See also Horse Riding in Northumberland)

Other Activities

We can also arrange fishing, shooting (incuding clays), bird watching and golf all within the Allendale area.

There is very little light pollution at High Keenley so it's an ideal place to stay for keen astronomers.

Visit Newcastle & Gateshead

We are only approx. 40 minutes away from Gateshead MetroCentre and 10 minutes later you could be in the centre of buzzing Newcastle with attractions such as Laing Art Gallery, Sage Gateshead, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and magnificent Grey Street is also worth a look, with it's wonderful Georgian architecture.
